Bee Pollen is Considered a Superfood and Has a Host of Benefits for the Body

Many consider bee pollen to be a superfood and the German Federal Board of Health has declared it to be a medicine! You can find bee pollen in supplement form or buy it in a crunchy, pellet form which can be ground down to sprinkle in smoothies, oatmeal or yoghurts.

Bee pollen is made by young bees when they land on a flower and wrap up the pollen into a small ball. They use a mix of saliva, honey and nectar to wrap the pollen up and get it to stick together. These balls are then carried back to the hive in small sacs on the bee’s legs to be stored in the hives honeycomb. After an amount of time, the bee pollen ferments and becomes ‘’bee bread ‘’ (food for the colony).

Some Ways Bee Pollen May Support Your Health

You should always check with your doctor before adding any new supplements to your diet. Bee pollen is highly nutritious containing 250 types of nutrients including; vitamins and flavonoids but be aware it does contain sugar.

  • Support the immune system. We all know having a strong immune system is vital to keep us from falling ill and this is why supplementing with bee pollen could be a great way to support this. • Healing wounds. Bee pollen has been found to speed up the healing process as it; adds moisture to the skin, kills bacteria and improves circulation.
