Sleep, well-being and quality of life.

We are all individuals and our needs and wants are also individual, the food to satisfy our needs and the food to satisfy our wants may depend on numerous factors to maintain good health, work, play, anxiety and stress. All of these may vary our intake even down to comfort food to suppress the symptoms of stress, paranoia, anxiety and depression.

quality of sleep

It is widely recognised that sleep and its quality may be linked to our general well-being both physical and mental health.

A British study of the effects of sleep with volunteers confirmed how important quality of sleep is for our general well being. For the first 3 nights of the study, volunteers slept for 8 hours. The next 3 nights they slelpt for just 4 hours. Through the study they maintained a normal routine, the data gathered was then analysed both at the beginning of the study and at the end of the study. The confirmation was interesting and revealing.

The 4 measures were anxiety, depression, stress and paranoia. Anxiety almost doubled, depression almost tripled, stress almost tripled and paranoia almost doubled.

The volunteers natural rhythm became apparent emphasising the desire to sleep, trust of others became an issue along with these manifestations; sensations of pain were experienced for no apparent reason. We can see that many of the day to day issues we face may be linked to our sleep patterns and the quality of our sleep.

Overall, sleep is a cornerstone of our general well-being, impacting virtually every aspect of our physical, metnal and emotional health. Prioritising a google sleep schedule to ensure you get enough rest each night is fundametnal to maintain optimal health.
