1. Diet and exercise

For those of you who have been following our newsletters over the years, the drum we beat the hardest and loudest is for diet and exercise, ensuring that we eat a balanced diet is the number one approach we can take to maintain good health, supplemented by an active lifestyle. Prevention rather than cure.

2. Traditional Asian and pre-pharmaceutical European herbal remedies.

The basic philosophy is similar to number one prevention rather than cure, the taking of supplements to support the immune system and healthy body function has a history dating back thousands of years. The old square rigger sailing ships of old carried the early origins of modern pharmacopoeia that dates back to Henry VIII (1491-1547), this outlined combinations of natural ingredients that were combined for the treatment of those on board.

At this point it is interesting to note that scurvy was a major health compromising condition that was remedied by the introduction of vitamin C and leafy green vegetables for those on board.

The English navy solved the problem with lime juice, making possible long voyages of discovery by explorers such as James Cook; hence the name for British seamen, (Limey).

3. Big pharma drugs and chemicals.

This massive multi-national industry very often receives taxpayer funded research grants that may result in patented products from which exorbitant profits are extracted from us personally or through the taxation process. The myth that’s promoted by drug companies that the high prices and massive margins are necessary to fund research; in many cases more money goes in dividends and marketing than invested in research and a question we need to ask why do drug companies tend to produce ongoing treatments for symptoms rather than short treatments to cure, could it possibly be the profit incentive rather than what is best for us the consumer.

The brand Silberhorn has been attacked on an ongoing basis by competitors and what appear to be agents of big pharma; probably because our products that support joint health and lung function bite into those exorbitant profits.
