Mental wellbeing and a trying year 2020

For many the year has been devastating for both financial, mental health and wellbeing, for others it has been a year of opportunities.

Our physical health and overall wellbeing is dependent on our mental health, diet and our physical fitness; they are in lockstep and you can’t have one without the other. The various environments we live in throughout the week, our work and home environment, our financial wellbeing and physical wellbeing all feed into our overall wellbeing. Each element of our daily life feeds or drains our mental health and wellbeing.

This can all be summed up in our work life balance:

  1. Having people relationships that work for us and for those you interact with through the day. These relationships either feed or drain our wellbeing and that of those we share our life with.

  2. A lifestyle that fulfils and satisfies your needs and wants feeds or drains our wellbeing.

  3. Immersing yourself in an environment you can develop yourself and grow within.

  4. Having realistic achievable goals, maybe breaking down those large goals into smaller achievable goals, will reduce the risk of being overwhelmed.

  5. Little or no progression of your goals, ambitions or projects very often chip away at your sense of wellbeing and self-worth, walking passed that project or gunner weighs on one’s mind.

  6. As we travel the path of life we must always remind ourselves that our personal Everest will only be reached if we take that first step, drive our first nail or break the soil. The thought of the journey ahead may sometimes be daunting, looking back at what you have achieved and or where you have come from is very often inspirational and morale boosting, selling yourself short maybe draining, patting yourself on the back is very often morale boosting.

  7. Taking the time to reflect on your achievements, a coffee, tea or wine on the porch or in the garden at the end of the day may release those feel good endorphins and set you up for a relaxing evening and a good nights’ sleep; taking the time to smell the flowers and building into your day those feel good tasks is maybe just what you need

Always remember laughter, a joke or a chat maybe just what we need.
