What is SportsVel – Deer Velvet?

SportsVel is a deer velvet product produced and processed in New Zealand and recognised globally for its quality and health promoting properties. These health promoting properties have been recognised throughout Asia for thousands of years.

A local Chinese herbalist is the very reason for Silberhorn’s existence; almost 40 years ago the Southland landscape artist Peter Beadle was very concerned about the well-being and mobility of his father Albert Beadle. Peter consulted the herbalist and he suggested deer velvet as a supplement for Albert’s joint and mobility issues. Peter and the herbalist sourced local deer velvet processed it to treat Albert. The results were noticed by many and it wasn’t long before locals made enquiries as to Albert’s renewed vigour and mobility; the word was out there was a significant local demand for deer velvet product.

Silberhorn was borne to satisfy the local demand; it was inevitable that the word spread throughout New Zealand and the world.

Silberhorn has had a tradition over many years of innervation, scientific research and development and what we are especially proud of is our personal approach to marketing. We have always maintained a personable call centre that can be contacted by telephone and more lately by email and fax.

Our innovation to processing has been ongoing, evolving to a unique process that doesn’t use sterilising agents on partially dried powder; our process has evolved through cryogenic sterilisation and freeze drying to produce the powder for encapsulation. Our process produces a product that’s twice as effective as many other competitors.
