New Zealand TeaGenolTM Green Tea Blend
In Japan green tea has been both a refreshing beverage and a medicinal infusion since ancient times. Now modern researchers are discovering the remarkable health enhancing benefits of green tea and green tea extract.

Our green tea blend tea bags are a blend of 50% New Zealand grown Japanese green tea and 50% Ceylon grown green tea. The catechin (active ingredient) count was higher in this blended product than our previously available 100% New Zealand grown green tea.

What is TeaGenolTM
TeaGenolTM is the brand name of New Zealand green tea and its extract. All TeaGenol products are made from fresh Japanese green tea (camellia sinensis) which is grown to exacting Japanese standards in New Zealand’s Tasman Bay region. TeaGenol is prepared by Silberhorn Ltd to strict standards without the use of chemicals and using only tested pure spring water.

Benefits of Green Tea

Heart Protection

According to a 1995 study published in the British Medical Journal, green tea consumption has been shown to support the reduction of cholesterol. Similarly a University of Wisconsin study showed that the catechins in green tea also help reduce blood pressure and blood clotting, while flavonoids reduce the risk of heart attacks.

Natures Antioxidant
Green tea has antioxidants that neutralise damaging free radicals. But, unlike many other antioxidants, it is entirely derived from a naturally grown plant and is completely water soluble so it can be absorbed quickly.

Dietary Regulator
Catechins in green tea can assist in suppressing excessive accumulation of body and liver fat and help regulate blood sugar, cholesterol and fat.

Antibacterial and Antiviral Agent
In recent scientific studies green tea was shown to have marked bactericidal affects on pathogenic spores and vegetative cells including botulism. In a separate Japanese study it was also found effective in reducing the infectiousness of the influenza A and B viruses.

Natures Dentist
Green Tea is a potent killer of the streptococcus mutans bacteria, a cause of tooth decay.

Skin Protection
The international cancer journal, Journal of Oncology, in 1996 reported studies that have shown green tea gives protection against skin cancer induced by ultra-violet radiation.

Continuing research
There is still much to learn about all the health enhancing qualities of green tea.  Extensive research is continuing internationally with more than 70 new scientific papers published.
